Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Spanish to high school students. They are so eager and excited to learn a new language and to be able to put it into practice in their community and with their friends.

I teach in an inner city school and most of my students are African-American or Hispanic.

All of my students come from disadvantaged backgrounds and receive free lunch. There is a lot of gang violence and crime in the surrounding neighborhoods, but my students are motivated to learn. They are eager to master a new language!

My Project

Student learning is always affected by the environment around them. If the classroom is inviting and vibrant, the students will want to be there and they will be more open to learning.

I want to create a fun, colorful, vibrant, and inviting environment that welcomes my students and opens their minds to learning Spanish.

I want my students to know that learning in this class will be fun and never dull, just like the classroom they are in. I want them to be as proud of their beautiful classroom as they will be of the amazing work that they will produce in it.
