My Project

I am using the Fiesta Bowl to support my 50 6th-grade Math and Science students. The items I need are hands-on life science kits, math skill games, and flexible seating for small group work.

The students are most engaged with Science when we can do an experiment or project after reading the technical portion of our topic.

Reading and memorizing vocabulary words and abstract concepts are lost on many 12-year-old children. When those words and concepts are attached to a demonstration or experiment such as those in the Explorations in Life Science Kit or the Crime Solving Kit, the lesson magically sticks.

Math taught in isolation without relating to the real world becomes very boring and unmotivating. When children get to play strategy games using multiplication, decimal addition, missing variables, or fractions, they are 40 times more likely to gain mastery as per the peer-reviewed literature.
