Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds. They have hearing loss, vision loss and/or physical disabilities and range from ages 3-5. They are a determined group who will make great progress this year with the help of donors like you.

These students learn best from a variety of teaching methods such as hands-on learning, direct instruction, and modeling.

It is crucial that we give the children multiple ways to learn and the best opportunity to meet their sensory needs.

My Project

Our school is able to take one field trip per quarter. These field trips range from going to a local pumpkin patch for sensory experiences to the U.S. Coast Guard base for new vocabulary.

Students with physical disabilities deserve to fully experience these trips in the same way as their typically developing peers.

Some of the students in my classroom have physical disabilities that make walking independently a difficult task. Walking long distances on field trips can become extremely tiresome for these students. A stroller will allow all students to participate without fatigue.

We also need a diaper bag to carry items like diapers, sippy cups, hearing aid batteries, cochlear implant accessories, and more on our trips.
