My students need a space to move, giggle, and grow together.
This project expired on January 23, 2017.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
2016-2017 will be the first academic year for students and staff at my school. As a new teacher, I am looking to provide my first graders with the best academic year at our new school. My students come from multiple backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses, while many live in Saint Cloud and the surrounding area. I have chosen to create a DonorsChoose.org project because as a recent college graduate, I am hoping to receive support from family, friends, and strangers for my first classroom.
With this project, I am hoping to support my students who need additional supports in the classroom.
These students love to wiggle, move, and keep their hands and feet moving during a lesson.
When in my classroom, my students are scientists, mathematicians, artists, and musicians. I look to provide an open environment that is exciting, encouraging, and engaging for my first grade students.
My group of first graders consists of two students in particular that will benefit from my wiggle seats. These students love coming to school and enjoy working with other students; however, they are a large distraction during whole group instruction. These students have been sitting in a chair during whole group instruction with a fidget; however, I hope to allow them to sit in the new wiggle seats I am purchasing. I love that these students enjoy coming to school and I hope that the wiggle seats can make it easier for these two students to be successful.
I have purchased the other supplies, such as playdoh, rolling pins, and a dough tool set, for our Words Their Way stations.
My students love using Mr. Sketch markers when creating anchor charts as a class and they enjoy receiving a stamp on completed work.
