This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school has a strong restorative justice and advisory program. Through our community building and social-emotional learning, we have observed that students struggle with anxiety, and these fidgets help them stay engaged while participating in circles and counseling sessions.
Our goal with this fundraiser is to buy enough fidgets and conversation cards to create social-emotional learning boxes for advisors and guidance staff to use during advisory sessions and restorative circles.
Our students are special because our high school specializes in supporting immigrant youth who have recently migrated to this country, many of whom went through traumatic journeys, leaving their loved ones and homes behind. We want to create as many spaces as possible to help them process and connect with our school community.
