My students are incredible thinkers. Their brains work in ways that amaze me daily. They can reason, imagine, and create just about anything. They can process at incredible speeds. They are geniuses in their own ways. That said, mathematics requires a lot of time spent processing and focusing through problems.
Students, like mine, who process at incredible speeds and can multi-task through life with abundant imagination, tend to struggle to maintain balance and focus when problem solving is required of them.
They are brilliant thinkers. Their brains just need distractions. Sometimes, these distractions can take too much of their mental focus. They require distractions that allow their brains to maintain focus on their work, while simultaneously providing the added challenge that allows their high-functioning brains to receive positive stimuli.
My Project
My students need fidgets to help their high-functioning brains maintain focus on desired tasks while simultaneously receiving positive stimuli. The fidgets help students mentally focus by relieving the pressure to find added stimuli in the environment. My students' brains are capable of incredible things. Due to the requirements of any work environment, the mental processing required by mathematics, and the natural needs of their young minds, they fidget. They fidget away from their work. I would like to supply them with fidgets designed to create an outlet for needed stimuli while still providing space for successful performance. I have seen these work. I would like to make them more readily available for all of my students.
