Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many students are addicted to their cell phones and easily distracted in class. To redirect their energy I want to provide a fidget basket to all the 20 classrooms at my school, serving 450 students. We had a grant several years ago with fidgets but many of them have exceeded their lifetime as they were well loved.
The learning objective is to promote social emotional well-being in the classroom.
The COVID emergency funding has expired and many schools are experiencing budget cuts. The schools will prioritize school supplies like paper and binders with their limited funds. We won't have funds for purchasing alternative items like fidgets.
Students need an alternative object in their hands to overcome their addictions to cell phones and support students with ADHD. Many times students have been tapping their pencil, struggling to stay awake, or having their heads in the cloud during a test, giving students something to fidget with to increase their focus in class.
