My Students

Welcome to our elementary media center! Over the last few years, we have found ways to completely transform our library. Our students love new technology and building, so we have created a Maker Faire space. The students visit our Makerspace throughout the day to create, explore, and think. We are a STEM Media Center and always find ways to incorporate science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

The most exciting thing I see as a teacher is when I see my students working really hard to be innovative and problem-solve.

I love watching them think through situations to possible outcomes. Having a STEM Makerspace media center allows me to challenge children in a fun way, every day.

My Project

I work in the Media Center at my elementary school. I love being able to teach every student at my school on a weekly basis! I have noticed that oftentimes students come to their daily activity class very distracted. They may have had a long test that morning, or have schoolwork on their mind. Sometimes some of my students need a few minutes at the beginning of Media time to calm down and relax.

I am requesting several, stress relief and fidget items to help students when they feel anxious or stressed.

These include fidget spinners, stress balls, water bead beanbags, and liquid motion bubblers. These items will be set up in a lounge area of the Media Center for students that need to use them.
