Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. I have high expectations that my students will grow and achieve beyond the expectations set for them. We study STEM topics such as robotics, engineering, and coding along with our curriculum.
School is a safe and fun place for my students.
They enjoy coming to school and learning through hands-on, engaging activities. For many of my students, school is the highlight of their day.
My Project
When used properly, fidget tools can help students with self-regulation, attention and calming. They can also be a valuable math manipulative.
These fidget toys will serve a dual purpose as both a method of self-regulation and a concrete way to understand area and perimeter.
My students have really struggled to understand the concept of area and perimeter. These fidget tools will help deepen their understanding of these math concepts by allowing them to pop them in the shape of rectangles with different dimensions.
These fidget tools would be a valuable addition to my classroom!
