This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a middle school special education teacher, teaching math to students with autism, learning disabilities, and processing delays. I teach students in an under-served community, in a Title I school with limited resources.
My students with special needs have a variety of struggles that they must overcome every day, inside and outside of school.
It is difficult for many of my students to stay on task and engaged throughout their lessons every day. I do my best to address their individual needs in order for them to be successful.
My Project
Our students sometimes have trouble staying on task while in class. They require various opportunities for sensory input and output. I like to have these tools available to the students to access when they feel it is necessary. They know that when they are feeling restless or need some kind of break, they can ask to get a fidget tool from the box and bring it to their desk. I am excited to provide these useful tools to my students to help them be as successful as they can be in school.
