About My Students
The amazing students submitting this project are Tyler, Michael, Cole, Rowen, and Josh. These soon to be high schoolers are smart, funny, and on task, and they values friendship. These boys are thoughtful and caring individuals who wants to make a difference in our school.
Tyler, Michael, Cole, Rowen, and Josh are community builders! They love sports, technology, and reading. In this project, they really show how much they care about their classmates. Their caring personalities really shine in this grant!
My students are studying how art reflects values. They are using their Language Arts skills to write grants that reflect their own personal values. These boys value health and education, and they hope to use their persuasive writing to convince you to support their grant that provides fidget spinners to students who have anxiety or ADHD. These young men enjoy reading, soccer, and TV, and they want to help students stay on task in class by giving them a spinner. In preparing this project students are using 21st century skills of critical thinking, collaboration, and communication in hopes of bringing their ideas to life. Thank you for taking the time to read their grant. If you value health and fitness, this is the project for you!
In Their Own Words
Our project idea is to get fidget spinners for students in our class who have ADHD, anxiety, or other issues. A few students in our class are sometimes noisy and off task, and by using fidget spinners, it will help keep them focused on the stuff that is happening in class. Our goal is for everyone to be able to focus on Language Arts.
We asked each person in our group how he would be a leader, and this is what we said:
Tyler said, “I will be a leader in this group by pushing my team to do their best.”
Michael said, “I will be a leader by communicating with my group.”
Rowen said, “I will be a leader by being friendly with my group and fellow classmates.”
Cole said, “I will be a leader by making my team work hard and focus on the task in hand.”
We will also make sure that all of the fidgets get to people who need them.
This is an important project because it will help students who have anxiety and/or ADHD. Anxiety is very common and there are more than three million cases a year. This condition peaks in people who are 14-60 years old. Anxiety can be caused or triggered by tests in kids 13-16. According to Healthline.com, kids with homework longer than 10 minutes can have health issues that can affect their grades. On Friendshipcircle.org, it says fidget spinners help most kids with focus, attention, calming down, and active listening. This is an important project because we want to get these spinners to help our classmates focus and get better grades.
