Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have amazing and diverse students at our elementary school. The majority of our students come from low-income households, where parents work multiple jobs or that students come from a single-parent household or maybe live with a relative. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch, which for some are the only two rounded meals they eat on a daily basis.

We have high expectations of our students and they strive to reach those expectations every day!

We are a bilingual school that appreciates and celebrates this diversity!

My Project

To help our teachers continue teaching and reaching all of our students, we need to meet the behavioral and emotional needs of other students as well. Having a basket of fidget/sensory items available for each teacher to use with students will allow our students to continue to grow and reach their full potential.

Fidgets allow students to keep their hands occupied, quietly, and remain in the classroom to receive instruction and to remain with their peers.

It also allows the other students in the class to not be distracted by noisier calming methods, such as tapping. Timed timers will be used to give students who need a small calming break in their classroom a visual of their break time.
