This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in classrooms that specialize in serving students with moderate to severe disabilities. These range from visual impairments, intellectual disabilities, behaviorally challenged, speech and language impairment, ADHD, ODD, and Autism.
I provide behavioral support for my students and help them cope with complicated emotions and classroom participation.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. Often, I find myself modifying materials in order for my students to access their curriculum and fully participate with the adults and peers in the class.
My Project
My project is requesting fidgets to help my special education students have a way to remain calm and focused during academic instruction and social situations. These simple items will help my students regulate their emotions and help them focus on information and tasks related to their learning.
By having fidgets ready at any time, behaviors are reduced and participation is increased!
These fidgets also provide important sensory input for my students. Many need a tactile way to explore the world around them and these items provide that. Thank you for considering my project, for sharing it, and for your support!
