This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in a one-way dual language program (Spanish/English) in West Chicago. They are bilingual/bicultural and are members of various Hispanic groups within our community. I love that my students are so involved and are leaders within our school community. As 5th graders, they have stepped up to be an example to the younger students in our school.
My Project
My goal with this project is to create a comfortable and safe classroom for my students. As a teacher with ADHD, I know how difficult it can be for our neurodivergent students especially to learn in an environment that is not accommodating nor accepting of their needs.
I want every one of my students to be successful in their learning and allowed to be themselves and feel understood in this space.
As a first-year teacher, there are so many projects that my students need to be funded, but this one for wobble cushions, chairs, and lap desks is very close to my heart.
