This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The fidgets allow my autism students to be calm and attentive of their learning and make good choices during one- on - one activity.

During small groups they choose a location in the classroom that works for them.

Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables, sitting under tables with their chrome book, or sitting or laying on the floor with a tangible manipulative. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating with their special fidget. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.

My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of something to keep them busy like the fidgets.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional options to make more effective in their learning choices. The fidgets are attractive and will get students attention to sit at desk or on the floor. The backpack is an incentive for my SPED student who shines among the rest and shows his best whenever he is in my small group.

I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
