Fidget and Sensory Tools For Special Education Success!
Help me give my students fidget tools such as pop its, fidget spinners, and a breathing ball to help meet sensory needs and promote self regulation skills in the calming area!
This year I am teaching a kindergarten special education class that is full of amazing, energetic, and inquisitive students! Due to their young age and social-emotional needs, my students often experience big feelings and benefit from using sensory and fidget tools to help them regulate. It is important that my classroom has a calming/break area that includes these tools.
I need your help to stock my classroom's break/calming area with pop-it's, fidget spinners, squishy toys, a breathing ball, and more!
Students will use these tools to relax and self-regulate when they are having a hard day or experiencing a big feeling! Once their body is calm again, they can return to their learning activities! It is not possible for students to learn if their bodies are not regulated! These tools can also be helpful when they are working at their seats or sitting on the carpet engaging in a whole class lesson. Often spinning a fidget spinner or popping a pop-it can help a student focus and stay with the group during carpet time. Thank you for your time and consideration!
