Fiction Books on the Go!

My students need fiction books to take home and read with their families to grow the love for reading across generations!

My Students

2nd Graders have just begun to get their feet wet when it comes to getting into a really good book that they can't put down. My second graders are ready to build their reading stamina as they dive into new and exciting books everyday! They are sponges waiting to absorb every piece of information.

My students are excited to read!

Second graders are starting to read chapter books with complex plots and multifaceted characters. These students come from a variety of backgrounds and homes. Many come from refugee or single parent families and several of them are learning English as their second language. Our classroom is an equal playing field where all students have the opportunity to feel safe, have fun and learn with their peers. At our school we believe that all students are capable of success, no matter the obstacles they face. In addition to shaping well-rounded people, we are committed to high-quality instruction for every child, every day in every classroom.

My Project

Students need to practice reading every day at school and at home! Many of my student's families strive to support their children in school but find it a struggle when we ask them to read with them every night and they have no books at home to read. And what books they may have are not at their child's level.

With this collection of books, I will be able to send home books weekly with my students to practice and enjoy with their families.

Students will be able to show their families the literacy skills that we are working on as they read engaging books at their reading level. They will get the chance to show off and be proud of the growth they are making as a reader to the people that love and support them.

Having books at home will give my families the opportunity to spend quality time together and allow parents an inside look at what I get to see every day in the classroom: their child as a confident, successful reader!
