Fiction Books for 6th Graders!

Help me give my students high interest fiction books to fuel independent reading!

FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Martinson's classroom raised $369

My Project

High interest fiction books are essential in our 6th grade classroom library. They act as both windows and mirrors, playing a crucial role in students’ development. As windows, they allow students to see into the lives and experiences of others, broadening their understanding of different cultures, perspectives, and historical contexts. This exposure helps students develop empathy, a global mindset, and an appreciation for diversity.

Fiction books also serve as mirrors, reflecting students’ own experiences and identities.

This validation helps students feel seen and understood, fostering a sense of belonging and self-awareness. Fiction encourages creativity and critical thinking by inviting students to imagine different realities and question their own.

Additionally, fiction enhances language skills, expands vocabulary, and nurtures a love for storytelling. By serving as both windows and mirrors, fiction books enrich 6th graders reading lives.
