Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is a group of 20-second graders who are energetic, creative, and ambitious learners. They are a wonderful group of students who are hard working and motivated to excel in their academic growth. They all love to read and usually have their noses behind books!
Most of my students derive from low-income families and are socioeconomically disadvantaged.
More than half are English Learners and five are students with disabilities. Despite socioeconomic challenges, my students always enter the classroom with a smile on their face and are eager to learn.
For my students with special needs, it is necessary that they are provided with resources to support their sensory needs.
My Project
Students with sensory processing issues have trouble handling information that affects their senses- sound, touch, taste, smell, and sight.
Students who have sensory processing issues have a more difficult time engaging in learning and reaching academic goals .
During instructional lessons, my students encounter attention difficulties and have trouble remaining seated/ focused for long periods of time. By providing my students with additional flexible seating options, such as wobble cushions, they will be able to sit in their seat comfortably. The noise-cancelling headphones will be tremendously advantageous for my students who are sensitive to loud noises. They will be able to work pleasantly without being overwhelmed or distracted by volume. The fidgets will be used to promote comfortable movement for the students to help with focusing and calming their wiggles. All these resources will help my students feel more comfortable and engaged when learning.
My students are a wonderful group of children who are optimistic learners and will brighten anyone's day! Please help me in providing these students with the necessary resources to support their learning needs.
