Students in 7th grade Spanish classes have been learning about the 21 Spanish Speaking countries. We are in a Travel Unit, and we are learning many cultural events including Carnaval. To make the learning more exciting I would like to have the kids make paper mache carnaval masks using aluminum foil, masking tape and acrylic paints. They will decorate these masks with feathers, jewels and ribbons and paint them to represent themselves.
We will need supplies to make 130 masks.
Students will be able to keep these masks to display on their walls or they can actually wear the as they will be sized by the aluminum foil to fit their faces. This will help students appreciate the culture of Latin America.
