My Project
Help us bring fencing to our school! We are seeking funding to help start a Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) Club at our school and introduce scholars to the engaging and exciting world of martial fencing.
Students in the Wolverine Fencing Club will learn both athletic skills, textual and literary analysis skills as we work to interpret and implement the techniques found in 16th-century training manuals, and will build character as students work as a team to improve their own skills, the skills of their peers, and ensure sportsmanlike conduct within the club.
We want the Wolverine Fencing Club to be a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for all students, regardless of skill!
In just one day, over 50 students have applied for this club and that number continues to grow! We are excited to provide this opportunity to our students, and your support will help us bring this club to fruition.
Funding for the project will go towards providing equipment such as swords and face masks to students at no cost to them.
Specific funding from this project will be used to purchase AF HEMA Basic Fencing Masks from Purpleheart Armory. These masks are padded to cushion blows from heavier swords used in HEMA, rather than less expensive masks used in Olympic fencing.
We at the Wolverine Fencing Club thank you for your consideration. Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thank you all in advance for helping students experience this wonderful sport.
