This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are new students to middle school (6th grade). Coming into a new school and making new friends can be scary and challenging. I want to make the transition to middle school easier for them by providing them with necessary basic needs that their families may not have the means to provide so that students can focus on their learning and successes instead. Please help me help my students have basic school supplies they need for class.

My Project

My young pre-teen female students are only beginning to learn about what their bodies go through each month. I want to help them through this "embarrassing" time, as they put it. I want them to know that most girls their age go through cycles each month and that it's normal for their ever changing bodies, that there is nothing to be embarrassed about.

Not only is this a time of navigating a change so unfamiliar and unknown to them, but they also shouldn't need to worry about the continually rising prices of feminine care.

Only 3 days into the 2021 school year, I've had several young girls privately ask me for feminine care in the middle of class. It is eye opening to find that some of these growing girls don't have access to these resources at home. Help me help my students be able to learn about feminine hygiene and health!
