I am blessed to have an amazing group of talented art students. My middle school students love to jump into new projects and mediums. They work hard to accomplish their goals and create beautiful artwork. I have students who are just starting their path in art, and others that have been drawing from the moment they could hold a pencil. No matter the skill level, we have fun and are excited about the art (and messes) we get to make throughout the year.
I try to use a variety of media in my middle school art classes. This year, I am looking forward to introducing felting to the curriculum. I think my students would enjoy working with a new textile medium. I love the idea of teaching them how to layer the colors and textures to create a piece of artwork. We are planning on creating beautiful landscapes on burlap as a starting project. Eventually, I would like to introduce felting in a sculptural three-dimensional way. These tools will help to start our felting kits and help my current students create their masterpieces.
