My students need games like Connect 4, floor puzzles, and magnetic tiles to keep us actively engaged for recess during our school's construction projects.

My Students

I have twenty-two amazing, creative students with many learning styles and challenges. Due to our school construction work this year, we are going to need fun, engaging activities to use during inside recess times for small groups or independently. We are a work in progress, just like our school.

My students are typical first graders-inquisitive, loving, eager to please, challenging, and delightful!

They enjoy their time to learn as well as time to have fun. They are starting to work together and are supportive of each other. Our school encourages positive behaviors and relationships with our families and students, and we take pride in our accomplishments. We are so lucky to spend our days together!

My Project

The resources that we have requested will be used during our indoor recess time as we will be without a playground for at least ten months. We will still want our students to have some freedom to be creative and active, as well as work together with games and puzzles. These opportunities will help them work as a team and have fun during their first grade year. We would like to have some log builders, magna tiles, pipe builders and building bricks, as well as floor puzzles, word puzzles, addition puzzles, and connect 4 games. It will be amazing to see the smiles on their faces while they build and create together!

It is crucial to these first graders that they still have an unstructured time to be kids!

They need time to play and be creative as well as learn to problem solve. They need time to work together, talk, and learn about the friends in their class. They may discover a new creative outlet, a strength for building, or be able to teach someone to play a game. They will be able to have fun while still doing something educational!
