This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Having a classroom library will help my students have a safe space to read. They love books but, being 4-7years old, they have very short attention spans and often become distracted when reading at their tables. Due to COVID, they are not used to being around other children and struggle with social and emotional skills.
With a classroom library, my students will have access to Social-Emotional Books and gain the confidence to read independently.
With COVID, many students also did not receive Pre-Primer education and now have to learn both Primer and Pre-Primer skills. Some even entered school months after we began. With the small group table and resources, I will help them academically, socially, and emotionally. Students will learn about their emotions, regulate them, and work cooperatively with others.
