"Every day is a new day" is my motto. With my students, this is important because every day is a different challenge or battle. My students all have been classified as having a learning disability. Some of my students have been classified as being learning disabled, emotionally disturbed, speech and language impaired, and/or Autistic. They all learn through different means and modes. In addition, many of their families are of low-income and/or lack of education due to poverty or immigration status. Despite their hardships, my students are eager to learn. They crave to be successful in and out the classroom. I want to be able to continue to create meaningful learning experiences.
All my students deserve a chance to be successful.
In a rigorous academic school community, it is easy to forget about the learning disabled population. They are often forgotten because of their inabilities. I believe that my students can be successful, I desire to make creative and positive experiences to help them learn and become everyday citizens!
Brooklyn has a reputation of cool artist, hip restaurants, and tasty coffee spots. Our school on the other hand, struggles to get funding. We have great staff, awesome students, and hot classrooms. Every year we think of ways to make the students' learning experiences rich. This year a major key to this is a portable air conditioner. It is hard to function when your basic needs are not met. Imagine being hot in a humid classroom. Please help us cool off and stay safe in the heat. Learning is wonderful, however, when you are struggling to breathe because of your asthma, it becomes extremely difficult. Help us stay as cool as Brooklyn!
