This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I currently teach pre-k to students with disabilities. My students all have disabilities, and some are diagnosed with autism. My students have varied needs and require additional support. Some students need help to learn concepts and skills like number sense and letter recognition. However, most of my students need assistance to learn how to focus and learn in class. A way I find that helps my students is by incorporating art in class. Being able to draw, paint, create helps my students express themselves, imagine new worlds and in short motivates them.
My students all have disabilities and they face many challenges when learning, especially because they have difficulty focusing on their lessons.
My students do not learn the way other students learn. They need additional help and support. In order to help them be calm, focused and ready to learn I need additional resources.
Please help my students have the resources to imagine a whole new world. They need paper and paint.
My Project
I teach preschool children with disabilities. They may encounter more difficulties than other students attending preschool. I have seen that having sensory items may help them focus, "play," and learn.
Using items such as play dough to play and make letters and numbers helps my students learn!
Giving them lots of opportunities to use these fun items motivates them and they have fun. While having fun they are learning the shapes, the letters in their name and how to count.
Please help me bring these materials to my students to help them learn.
