This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Sensory Sanctuary is a dedicated space designed to meet the unique sensory needs of neurodivergent students. In our classroom, we recognize that every learner experiences the world differently, and some students need specific tools and environments to feel calm, focused, and safe. This project aims to create with the requested divider a soothing sensory corner equipped with items such as textured materials, noise-canceling headphones, visual timers, fidget tools, and calming lighting to help students self-regulate and thrive.

By offering a sanctuary within the classroom, we hope to empower neurodivergent learners to take charge of their emotional well-being, reduce sensory overload, and foster an inclusive space where every student feels seen, supported, and valued.

This is more than just a corner—it’s a commitment to honoring neurodiversity and creating equitable opportunities for all children to succeed.
