This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A calm corner gives students the opportunity to reflect and learn skills that will further strengthen their ability to self-regulate whenever they are having a difficult day. A calm corner is a safe space where students can go to when they feel their emotions are too strong and they need a break.
Students will have access to materials including books, stress toys, fidgets and coloring books, that will help them develop the skill to self-regulate their reactions to strong emotions.
My calm corner will help them learn different strategies they can utilize but most importantly, what works well for them.
This space will include materials to help sooth and promote mindfulness and reflection.
