Help me give my students snacks throughout their school day. I work with elementary students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Fruit bars, cereal bars, and other food items are essential throughout their school day.
My classroom space is for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, who may also struggle with other disabilities such as visual impairments and learning disabilities, to come and learn throughout their school day. They often run in to get a snack to have for their mainstream classes or during instruction time in my classroom. In all honesty, we try to create a welcoming safe space for the students, especially when auditory input gets to be too much.
Snacks helps my students focus on listening to their teachers and/or watching their ASL interpreters so that they can learn, instead of focusing on the growling in their stomach.
