Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Scientists! Artists! Architects! Teachers! Doctors! These are just a few of the future careers many of our scholars aspire to be, but like everyone else in the world, if you haven't gotten something to eat in the morning it can be hard to focus on these aspirations. My SPED team is trying to help feed our students who come to school with an on campus food pantry. Working within a community of prominently low income black and brown students and families, giving opportunities to students to get something to eat often helps build relationships with our more challenging scholars at the start of the day and often gives our students a reason to come in on time in the morning.
You donation would not only feed our community of low income students but also feed the future of aspiring Doctors, Scientists, and Architects.
Some of our students often go the whole school day without something to eat which often can spike behaviors during class time and take students out of the classroom missing important instructional minutes!
Help us keep our students bellies full and in their classrooms!
My Project
Serving a low income black and brown community often faces its challenges within a setting of Deep East Oakland, with 91% of our students on free or reduced lunch.
Many of our students come to school hungry and often find it hard to pay attention in their classrooms.
Your donation will provide granola bars, goldfish, fruit snacks, and crackers to a population of students who often face many other challenges throughout their day, and our team is trying to make food not be one of them.
Help our students combat the challenge of their academic achievements by helping us feed our youth and future leaders.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
