My students come from many different backgrounds.
I teach ESL students within my middle school classroom representing over 15 different countries. Besides teaching English to speakers of other languages I am also responsible for their language arts curriculum.
I am hoping this project will help my students to continue to celebrate the diversity within themselves and to further teach tolerance in a world that keeps showing examples of intolerance. We must start with our future if we hope to not repeat the past.
My Project
I hope to buy books and healthy snacks to give to each of my students to take home for winter break. Many of our students are refugees and we have many students who just came from the devastating hurricane in Puerto Rico. This will
Give me the ability to send each of them with a book of their very own and some healthy snacks to take home.
I hope this gives them the knowledge that they are cared for and to be inspired to continue to read and live a healthy lifestyle! This project will give me the tools to do just that!
