This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hunger is something that is not completely measured, but it is something we all have experienced. However, researchers have been able to measure "food insecurity". Many of my students experience food insecurity. That means many of my families struggle to provide enough food for everyone living within the household at some point during the school year. Because there is a direct coorelation to hunger and mental focus, the snacks that I can provide to my students can help them stay focused when feeling hungry. For most of us, hunger distracts us from the tasks at hand. Now, imagine you’re a child that is hungry and how it would affect your ability to learn new skills or focus in the classroom.

These snacks would help support my students with simply being able to take their mind off of their hungry and keeping their minds on growing, developing and helping to ensure academic success.
