I truly believe that we have some of the kindest, funny, and caring students on the planet. The students at our school are amazing! They come to school every day with great attitudes and a drive to learn, regardless of their home situations.
Unfortunately, my students have many obstacles in their young lives like their socioeconomic status (all our students qualify for free lunch), their living area, the fact that over 90% of our students are ESL, and the list goes on and on.
Our students overcome these challenges on a daily basis. They come to school, a safe, warm place, ready, excited, and willing to learn. They look up to us and expect great things just as we expect great things of them. I am hoping to be afforded the opportunity to meet my students' most basic needs so they can fully focus on their education.
My students have had very few experiences in their lives and have very few resources available to them outside of school, and that is why I am hoping that you will provide them this opportunity to utilize these resources that they may never otherwise be able to use.
Many of my students rely on the meals that they receive from school. Luckily, because we are a Title I school, breakfast and lunch are provided for every student, at no cost.
The reason that I am asking for snacks is because my students have a VERY early lunch, 10:15 am to be exact.
Our school day runs from 7:30 am until 3:00 pm and I know that for some students, school meals are their only chance for nutrition. I'd like to have the opportunity to offer them something to take home if needed. Our classroom would be very appreciative.
If this project is funded, these cookies, granola bars, and fruit snacks will be given out towards the end of the day, this gives me the peace of mind to know they have something at home in the event they need it.
