My Students
My class is made up of 25 curious and enthusiastic students. My students strive to learn and achieve at high standards regardless of so many environmental and personal obstacles. 100% of my students are eligible and receive a free school lunch. In addition, approximately 1/2 of my students stay for YDP (Youth Development Program) after school. Most, because their parents must work late or work long shifts and have no access to any other childcare. Yet, their thirst and curiosity to discover and learn new things never stop.
My Project
My students will be able to use the MacBook to research topics in science and social studies. They will also be able to access math and language arts programs that support and increase their mastery of specific skills. In addition, they will be able to increase their technology literacy by creating presentations. It is crucial for them to gain proficiency in utilizing technology since they will continue to use this knowledge not only in first grade but throughout their academic career. For example, students are currently working on programs such as Lexia and JiJi (ST Math) which enhances their reading comprehension and problem-solving skills.
