Feeding Adolescent Hearts, Minds, and Bodies

Help me give my students the school supplies, nutritious snacks, and positive decor to succeed. These materials will support their social-emotional development by feeding their minds and bodies. It will also support them academically as the make connections.

My Project

Research has shown that student emotional welling being was adversely affected by the COVID pandemic. The art supplies and pencils in this project will support social-emotional health by giving the tools to make art, a creative outlet to explore complex feelings. Creating art can also connect to their academic success, as it applies concepts from math and Language Arts, and contextualizes history and science.

Other materials in this project include healthy snacks.

Our adolescents need to feed their minds and bodies in order to succeed. In our complex post-Covid world, we need to support our busy families in new ways, including nutrition goals, at school.

Finally, we would like to decorate our room with uplifting tapestries and culturally significant materials, like the state flag of Hawaii. This flag not only unites all our students, but provides an academic touchstone to refer to in class and during recreation time.
