Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are hungry for learning and have a healthy appetite for food, too. Students within the Community-Based Training Program are learning how to tackle all the responsibilities of being an adult, including planning and preparing meals for themselves. This diverse group of learners is eager to be independent, but they need practice to make progress, and our food budget is gone.
To prepare students to make meals for themselves this summer, we need food items so we can plan our meals and prepare.
Our teachers and many staff have provided donations of money and food, but our class is large, and healthy food is expensive.
We look forward to preparing meals together on Fridays. We are learning to work together and to perform all the aspects of preparing a meal from planning a menu to setting a table to cleaning up. Through these food preparation lessons, students learn how to make meals safely. Help us learn to help ourselves. Thanks!
