Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In our low-income/high poverty school district where 100% of the students qualify for free lunch, my students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. To combat the many challenges they face, I am determined to provide and expose them to the technology and skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. They are curious, eager to learn, and desperate to please anyone who takes an interest! My students don't have technology at home so I'm looking to provide it in our classroom for them to experience. Keeping them engaged and learning new ways to incorporate technology is a goal.
My Project
I have seen the difference in focus when students are given snacks and drinks at school. My students get their breakfast and lunch at school but there is 4 hour break in between so proving a snack and drink at recess helps keep them going.
Seeing my first graders smile when given crackers and a juice makes such a difference in the classroom and in their overall attitude.
Keeping kids fed while at school to help their learning is vital. Giving them a small snack or drink makes the world of difference for some.
