This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are ELL students that are exploring the US for the first time and have a native language that is not English. My students are humble, giving, loving, caring, and very adventurous. They love to talk about their native countries and bond with each other over how their countries, traditions, and hobbies can be the same even though they come from different parts of the world. They are always thrilled to learn more about the Hawaiian culture and how it connects to their lives as they learn to make Hawaii their home away from home.

Even though my students are always happy-go-lucky little ones, they struggle with hunger and some are not able to focus due to not being able to have a complete and balanced meal on a daily basis.

My students are selfless and put others before themselves, and are always lifting each other up. No matter what the obstacle, they tackle it together and keep moving forward.

My Project

The pantry items will be given to my students whose parents signed the permission form approving for their children to receive weekly food items to have during school to take home. The food items are to supplement their nutrition when their parents are unable to fulfill that need.

Most of my ELL students face hardships that can easily be supplemented by filling up my ELL food pantry so they can are ready to feed their minds on a full belly.

The ELL food pantry will provide non-perishable food to ELL students of low socio-economical status.
