My Students

Did you ever go to school hungry? Some of my students do!

My students are from a low socioeconomic community.

The median income of their community is far below the national and state average. Due to the budgetary constraints of many households, a lot of these children do not have access to technology except for what can be found at school. At school, we also have a very limited supply of technology and are always seeking a way to provide more access for our students.

My Project

Many students do not have adequate food in their homes for a healthy breakfast. Skipping what is universally referred to as the most important meal of the day€ sets the tone for student performance throughout the day. When students skip breakfast, they are likely to become tired because their brains are low on fuel. Students who have breakfast in the morning exhibit improved attendance and less tardiness, better concentration, are more alert, have more energy and have an overall improved academic performance. You can provide my students with a healthy snack and the opportunity for a brighter future. My students need soup, pretzels, fruit and nut bars, trail mix, and other foods to satisfy them when they come to school hungry.

It is important for learners to be well fed in order for them to be focused on the lessons of the day.

When students come to school hungry, they are not focused on learning. With these snacks, students will be nutritionally prepared for learning.
