Feed The Students, Feed Their Futures: College Decision Day Breakfast
My students need food, juice, and water, for their senior Decision Day Breakfast held in May, an event held to celebrate their success in high school and share where they have decided to go to college.
As a school counselor at a rural high school in North Carolina, I work alongside our College Adviser, Ms. L, to send our students on to college. The majority of our seniors want to continue their education but are not quite sure how to get there without our help.
Our students are talented, unique, and ready to go out into the world and make a difference.
This year our seniors have submitted 525 college applications, and the students continue to bring in acceptance letter after acceptance letter. Ms. L and I are excited to see where the next step in life takes our students and to see how their college experiences shape their futures!
My Project
Each spring, our school hosts a College Decision Day Breakfast for our college- and military-bound seniors. This event works to celebrate all of the successes of seniors throughout their educational careers this far and serves as an opportunity to wish our students the best in the next chapter of their lives. Many of our students will be the first in their families to go to college and various others have been accepted to their dream schools. This breakfast allows us to show our students just how proud we are of their efforts, their determination, and their dreams. The snacks and juice provided through this program will not only provide some of our students with the opportunity to actually eat breakfast that day, but it will also help us give our deserving seniors the send-off they deserve.
Your generous donation will help to feed our seniors and congratulate them on their acceptances to countless colleges and universities, allowing us to show them that we care about them, that we are proud of them, and that we wish them the best.
By showing students how proud we are of them, we hope to encourage students to be proud of themselves and to carry that forward into college!
