Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are pregnant and parenting teens. They are learning the best they can under the circumstances. They live in areas that have been heavily impacted by COVID-19 and many rely on their local communities and vendors for supplies.
My students deserve to have basic needs met including diapers, wipes, etc.
These are the needs my classroom once met for students. With your help, as a community, we can foster support for these young parents.
My Project
These items will ease the stress of many of my students. They have given up so much to survive. Many have jobs or watch their siblings along with their own children.
I know how complex being an adult working parent is, and I can't imagine how difficult it is to be a teen parent in a pandemic.
We need to show up for our communities. This is crisis learning, not distance learning. Our schools must also meet the needs of our communities who are being dramatically impacted during this difficult time.
