I work with special education students who have sensory needs and would benefit greatly from the use of our new sensory room. My students need a quiet place where they can relieve stress, anger, and any other feelings from the day. My kids enjoy playing with fidgets, laying in bean bags for relaxing, swinging, and even just having a quiet place to mellow out. I want this Sensory Room to be a safe place for my students to open up and be themselves.
My Project
Farmington Central School district created a new Sensory Room over the summer, but it needs more items! The school funded some swings and a sand table, however, there is nothing else in there! I've been looking to kind of finish the Sensory Room and make it usable to all ages of students throughout the district. The sensory room is used for pre-k - 12. Students who need a sensory break, a quiet learning environment or just need to blow off some steam would greatly benefit from using this room. Our school is an amazing school to work for and the kids are lucky to have this room to their advantage!
