My Project

My students are multilingual learners in grades PK-8. They do their best to adjust to social and academic life at school and develop a sense of belonging to the school community. We are working on literacy skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing in English. A significant part of instruction is dedicated to developing writing skills in response to a variety of prompts connected to the content the students study in their classes. I am always looking for resources to make learning engaging and accessible to students. One of my favorite tools of annotating texts and expanding writing skills is a sticky note. We use sticky notes to mark important scenes in books, segment words into sounds and practice spelling, assemble sentences based on patterns, and make individual editing notes. The materials requested in this project include a supply of sticky notes, writing and coloring tools to produce text and visuals, and a set of supplementary reading resources focused on learning about different cultural experiences.
