Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a low-income/high poverty school district in South Texas. With the current Covid-19 Pandemic, students log in at home eager and ready to interact and learn. My students encounter themselves with limited resources, yet they try their best to learn, discover, and explore in my digital classroom.
My preschoolers love storytime, pretend play, and hands-on activities the most!
Discovering new things as they play to learn is very important and enjoyable to me. At four and five years of age, they're full of raw emotions that I treasure and protect alike.
My Project
These books are both super fun and easy to read by beginning readers. I want to plant the seed of love for reading using these creative books. The students can easily identify who the speaker is in the many scenarios this dynamic duo find themselves in. Role-play and story retell becomes child-play and they don't even know how many reading skills they master. Repetition is key to gain much-needed confidence as students enter the magical world of reading, and this book collection along with the bookends and plushes will be a focus point in my classroom library.
