My students need Dr. Seuss, Maurice Sendak, Caldecott Medal and Grade 1 High Interest collections of high-interest books!
First Grade readers need good books! Please help me to provide my students with books that they will want to read.
I teach First Grade in a low-income neighborhood in New York.
My students are bright and motivated, but we have to work very hard to keep them engaged in learning. They love to read books by their favorite authors, including Dr. Seuss and Maurice Sendak.
First Graders are just starting to read real books independently, so it is very important for them to read books that are of high quality. In order to inspire these students to become life-long readers, we must provide them with books that they will love!
This project is special because it provides an opportunity to give children something that will impact their future lives as readers.
If they are inspired in First Grade, their love of books will only grow as they get older.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
