Fast Plant Supplies for Hands-on Genetics Lessons

My Project

Fast Plants are an amazing way to teach genetics in the high school science classroom. These fast-growing plants can go from seed to producing their own seeds in a little over a month and come in several different varieties with different patterns of genetic inheritance. Similarly to fruit flies, they provide a great way for students to study the inheritance of traits across multiple generations.

Next year, my biology class will be working with these plants for several months to discover how different patterns of genetic inheritance work and to perform our own selective breeding project.

Students in higher-level classes may also choose to use Fast Plants as part of their independent research projects. This is an engaging way for students to learn about something that can otherwise be difficult to teach with hands-on, inquiry-based activties. To make this happen, I just need basic supplies to grow the plants and seeds; I already have grow lights! Please help if you can; any amount is appreciated.
