My Project
The creative minds at our school have joined together to start 'Flipped'- A Sustainable Fashion Class! Students will be using recycled clothing and materials to make fashion forward garments from secondhand materials.
Flipped is a class for students who are driven by the goal of offsetting the negative impact that fast fashion has on our environment.
Students in this class will learn to use the brother sewing machines and muslin to create and invent templates and patterns for garment construction. The thread, pins, and pincushions will be used during garment construction (and reconstruction). The linoleum blocks will be used in a variety of ways including printing on textiles, and poster making. Students in Flipped would like to host community events, such as a school wide clothing drive, fashion show, and mending workshop, The bracelet kits will be used as a thank you gift for those who donate to our clothing drive. Students in this class will learn to save money and build an authentic aesthetic by reimagining what they wear.
