Fashion Design Denim Up-Cycle Clothing and Accessories Project
Help me give my students a denim up-cycle and repurpose project for our Fashion Design class. Students will be designing various clothing and accessories.

My Project
This is the first year that our school has a Fashion Design class. Students have been learning how to sew straight lines, corners, curves, hems, darts, and ruffles on the sewing machine. Our quarter project is an up-cycle/redesign denim project. Students have been collecting donations of all kinds of denim clothing pieces. They will use the Engineering Design Process to create a denim look using the donated denim clothing. For example, a student could turn 5 pairs of jeans into a denim maxi skirt.
Please help my students to fulfill their up-cycled denim design dreams.
The supplies needed, such as fabric shears, thread snips, sewing gauges, and plastic containers for storage, will help the students to create their denim looks. The denim fabric will be used to supplement our project if we do not receive enough denim clothing donations for 70 student projects. The dress forms will help our students to drape their designs, cut the patterns, and pin the material for fitting.
I am so excited about this up-cycle denim project. I really hope to get funded so that I could supply everything that my students need for their designs. This is such a fun class and students really enjoy creating something that they could wear. We will be having a school fashion show to showcase their denim designs. Thank you!
