I teach in an Inclusive Resource Room. My students are diagnosed with Autism, learning disabilities and Emotional Impairments. Throughout the day, there are often many big emotions and ways students want to stray off of the schedule and fixate on their own fascination. We have choice time built in which is where they can use time to do things that they want to do such as play with cars, be a train, go on a bear hunt, use putty, have gum, etc.
My goal for this project is to give my students and staff the tools they need to be successful throughout the school day to stay in our schedule by having all the materials we need for the entire day at our hands.
By having tool belts, we can be hands free and all supplies and visuals can be on our body at all time. By having cars, gum and putty, we can provide the students with their preferred choice time activities for when they are in the schedule. This will alleviate stress on adults about knowing where and when we will be able to find these objects.
